World Hoop Day

Annual World Hoop Day (WHD) is a global charity event: hoopers from all over the world congregate locally to hoop together giving away hoops to their communities while donating thousands of hand-made hoops to children living in extreme poverty worldwide. Founded in 2006 by hoopers Annie and Kevin O’Keefe, and Stefan Pildes of GrooveHoops, WHD is a nonprofit organization that uses a community-based, grass roots approach. Over 10,000 hoops have been donated in the past 4 years. WHD is celebrated every year on the tri-numerals. This year on 12-12-2012.

Countries reached by WHD Active Ambassadors include: Tanzania, Senegal, Liberia, Pakistan, Nepal, Japan, Jamaica, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Uganda and many more

Since 2010, The WHD Dance project created by Kristen McQuillin from Spin Matsuri in Tokyo allows hoopers worldwide to learn and perform a choreographed hoop dance that is later compiled into one dance video as part of the World Hoop Day celebrations.
In 2011, the final video compilation included 317 dancers in 11 countries and 41 different locations. View on YouTube »

Hooping for Hope

Hooping for HopeTM (HFH) was founded in Nashville, Tennessee by hoop fitness instructor Sunny Becks-Crumpton in 2008.
Annually Sunny leads a team of hoopers in a half marathon where they hoop the entire 3-day Komen walk in DC. Sunny began HFH on behalf of her aunt who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. Her mission is quite simple… enhance the lives of breast cancer survivors around her by raising money for cancer research through hula- hooping. HFH provides weekly hoop fitness programs to breast cancer survivors free of charge.
